1.    Read the story carefully and answer the given questions.  15
Jack lived in a small cottage near a wood. He had a widowed mother. They were very poor and had to sell whatever they had in order to get food. They had only one cow left. His mother said to him, "Drive the cow to market and sell her for as good a price as you can possibly get."
Jack set off, but he had not gone very far before he met a man, who said to him. "I'll buy the cow but won't give you money." Jack agreed. The man offered a handful of beans, and simple Jack accepted them, giving the cow in exchange, when he reached home again, his mother become very angry. She was so furious that she snatched the beans from him and threw them out of the window.
