1. What things didn’t George Ramsay like about
his brother Tom? Do you feel the same way about Tom?
Ans: George didn’t like his brother Tom because he
was the black sheep of his family. He abandoned his wife, two children and
work. He borrowed money from others and blackmailed his elder brother. I also
feel the same way about Tom.
2. Why does society give more responsibility for
raising children to mothers than to fathers?
Ans: It is true that society gives more
responsibility for raising children to mothers than to fathers. There are many
reasons for that. It has been a culture in our country too that mothers should
raise the children. It is believed that mothers are kinder and lovelier than
fathers. They are more tolerant and they can take care properly of the
children. In most of the families, fathers are busy for the outside work and
mothers are busy for domestic work. Mothers can balance for both work; to raise
the children and to do domestic work. So, the responsibility to raise the
children is given to mothers.
Mothers can easily
understand the feelings and psychology of children. They never take the
children as burden though the children urinate and throw cack on their panties.
Mothers make their children such milk from breast. So, they have a kind of
strong and maternal attachment with children. Therefore mothers themselves,
too, seem interested to raise the children. When the children mistake, some
fathers seem to beat the children but most of the mothers forgive their children
easily for their mistakes.
3. In Maugham’s story, George and Tom obviously
don’t get along (interact or coexist) well. Do their different attitudes toward
work explain why they don’t get along? Is there another possible explanation?
Ans: Yes, in Maugham’s story, George and Tom
obviously don’t get along well due to their different attitudes towards work.
George is honest, hardworking and punctual in his job but Tom doesn’t want to
work. He is entirely irresponsible towards work. George wants to live very decent
and respectable life doing work but Tom wants to live enjoyable life without
doing work. Geroge works regularly and is worried about his work. In this way.
They obviously don’t get along well due to different attitudes towards work.

in capitalization and punctuation.
A researcher helps
explain a problem that many workers complain of. Most workers want to do their
best. (1) They do not work as hard as they could. (2) They feel that others
receive the benefits of their hard work. (3) The researcher doesn’t see this
attitude as a sign of a weak work ethic. (4) He feels the attitude would change
if workers made more of the decisions that affect their work. There is a
message for managers in this research. Managers need to allow workers to
express their needs. (5) They need to listen to what workers say.

Ans: A researcher helps explain a problem that many
workers complain of. Most workers want to do their best. However, they
do not work as hard as they could because they feel that others receive the
benefits of their hard work. Unfortunately, the researcher doesn’t
see this attitude as a sign of a weak work ethic. Rather, he
feels the attitude would change if workers made more of the decisions that
affect their work. There is a message for managers in this research. Managers
need to allow workers to express their needs and they need to
listen to what workers say.
