"Farming in Nepal"
N
epal is a small country but very rice in agricultural diversity. The climate varies from place to place. So that, many crops and agricultural products can be grown in the country. All most all people are engaged in farming. They grow different crops and earn money and fulfill their needs and agriculture.
As climate varies place to place, the crops are also different according to Geographical area. As the soil of Himalayan region is not fertile, only less type of crops are grown. The crops like wheat, millet, barley, potato etc are growing in this region. Likewise, barley, wheat, paddy, maize etc are grown in Hilly region. Similarly, sugarcane, oilseeds, jute, wheat, paddy etc are grown in Terai region. The soil of Terai region is fertile and the climate is hot. So that more amount of paddy are grown there. Terai region is also called the 'store house of Nepal'.
The development in the field of agriculture has not increased. People use traditional method of farming. This result, production of agricultural products is less. Farmers are unaware about the new tools and technology. Farmer grows crops in slope hill, so there will more possibility of soil erosion and landslides. The government has not done work for the betterment of famers. Government allocates only few budged in the field of agricultural. In some place training programs for female are being conducted with the help of Government and non- government organization. Besides government organization other international organization like food agricultural organization (FAO) has been working for the development of farming in Nepal.
Farmer keeps animals. So they use manure of animals to increase the productivity of agricultural. Similarly, they use different chemical fertilizer, medicine, insecticides etc in order to increase the productivity. Those chemical fertilizers destroy the fertility of land. So that it is better to use compost manure rather than those medicine and chemical fertilizer. Compost manure is easily available and cheap also. The farming is not in good condition in Nepal. Government must work for the solution of problems. The new tools and technology should be used and farmers should train. Similarly, the farmers are to be encouraged to use improper seeds.
In conclusion, farming is the main source of income for the Nepalese people. So that, we must develop this field in order to increase the economic status for farmers and country. Traditional tools should be replaced by new and scientific tools and technology.
