Tom and Jerry are the two main character in the show. Tom is cat. His full name is 'Tom Cat' which means male cat. He is always after Jerry, the mouse. Tom sets traps for Jerry. Many of the traps back fire and hurt Tom himself rather than Jerry.
Tom does not want to eat Jerry. He bothers Jerry and wants to hurt him. He keeps chasing him. However, Tom cannot catch him easily. Jerry is clever, smart and lucky. Tom and Jerry are not enemies to each other all the time. There are times they show friendship. For example, in the short movie "spring time for Tomas", they help each other. In 'Jerry and the Lion" too, they are not enemies. Tom thinks that Jerry is hurt badly with a gun shot. To help jerry, Tom comes with a first aid kit.
